Mo's Challenge #212

"I" is for ............

That's the theme for Mo's Challenge this week! My card is "I" for infant, and I've used one of Mo's sweet little angel babies to make a Christmas card. I used Frantage chunky embossing powder for the first time. I like it, but it certainly is messy! I heated it from below, but it still blew all over the place no matter how careful I was!

I'm so very behind in my making my Christmas cards this year that I don't think there's time enough left for me to get them done. I keep saying I'll work on them on the weekends, but I never seem to be motivated! By the time I get the spirit, it will be 2014!

Tools: Copics, Hanging Snowflake die from Memory Box, Snowflake, Scalloped circle, and Plain circle dies from Shapeabilities, MS Snowflake punches, Metallic gold pen, Spica pen, Shabby White Frantage embossing powder, Heat gun, Tacky Tape, Glue dots

Papers: Neenah smooth white, PTI White, Gold metallic CS

Embellishments: Dew Drops

Please join us this week and enter your card or project using at least one of Mo's images. Remember the theme, "I" is for.....! Check out the rest of the Design Team's creations for more inspiration.

So glad you dropped by!

Mo's Challenge #211

Anything But a Card!

Cathy is our hostess this week, and she's asked us to make "Anything But a Card"
for Mo's Challenge this week.

It's hard for me to shop due to my disability, so every year at Christmas I give cash to our kids, their spouses, and our grandchildren. It's easy for me, and they love it because they can take advantage of all the after Christmas sales!

Each year I try to come up with a new way to present the money to make it a bit more special. This year I'm making these boxes which will hang on the tree on Christmas morning. I'll make about a dozen or more, and each will be different.

I couldn't get a good photo for some reason...the colors are not true-to-life. He really doesn't look jaundiced as he does here! LOL!

This image is one of three little gift-giving guys which can be bought singly or as a set. There is a girl version, also!

I found the box tutorial on SCS. You can make this into a gift card holder, too!
It measures 3 by 5 inches.

Here's a side view that shows the tab I added for ease in opening.

Tools: Copics, Spica pens, White gel pen, ScorPal, Poinsettia dies, MS Branch punch, Tacky tape

Papers: SU! Green Galore, Neenah white, PTI white, Gingham DP

Embellishments: Narrow ribbon, Tiny brads

Please join us in Mo's Challenge this week with your "Anything But a Card' creation using at least one of Mo's images. You just might win a $5.00 gift certificate to Mo's Digital Pencil!

I always love it when you stop by!

Anything Goes With Mo!

Another fantastic "Anything Goes" Challenge from Mo's Digital Challenge! I love to be able to do whatever I want with no constraints! Our hostess for this week's Mo's Challenge is Debbie. She has asked us  to make Halloween or fantasy themed cards or projects. I love making Halloween cards but don't have much use for them, so this one is done with sort of a Halloween feel, but it's actually an anniversary card.

Mo's Challenge #207

They Call Me Mellow Yellow!

This week Kim is our hostess for Mo's Challenge. She asked us to make a card or project using Mo's favorite color, which happens to be yellow...a bright and sunny color for a girl with a sunny disposition!

Unfortunately, this little she-bear isn't too bright or sunny! She's not feeling 'beary' well at all!
Her bathrobe is paper-pieced, but the gingham pattern doesn't show up very well.

Images: "Beary Sick" , female version (a male version is also available, and both come with a digital sentiment) from Mo's Digital Pencil, Stamped sentiment

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug with Scalloped oval die, Circle punches, MS Hydrangea punch, Xacto knife, Glue dots, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Daffodil and Summer Sun, Neenah white, PTI white, DP

Embellishments: Satin ribbon, Yellow Gingham ribbon, Tiny pearl cabochons

Mo's Challenge #206

Vintage Late 40's to Early 50's

Our hostess for Mo's Challenge this week, Cathy, wants projects with a vintage theme using at least one image from Mo's Digital Pencil. Vintage can mean different things to different people, so feel free to use your interpretation of your favorite vintage era!

This reminds me of kitchens from the late 40's and early 50's when fruit themes were popular, and kitchen gadgets all had wooden handles painted red or green! My mother had colored plaster fruit plaques on the walls and her small utensils had green handles! She also had a white tablecloth with a red aster print! I think Mummu would feel at home in a kitchen like that!

This is the same card with a few changes. The more I looked at the original, the less I cared for it. I guess I'm just not too fond of symmetry! I added a few more red daisies and leaves, and I'm much happier with it now!

Images: "Mummu's Letter" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment

Tools: Copics, Sewing machine, SU! scallop border and daisy punches, MS Hydrangea punch, Nellie Snellen embossing rose leaf punch set

Papers: SU! Poppy Parade, Bashful Blue, Neenah white, Digital DP

Embellishments: Tiny pearl cabochons, Brads

Show us your take on 'vintage', and enter Mo's Challenge for a chance to win a $5.00 gift certificate to Mo's Digital Pencil.

Mo's Challenge #205

Something Sweet or Good to Eat!

Tracy is our hostess for Mo's Challenge this week, and she wants us to use at least one image from Mo's Digital Pencil to make a card or project that shows something sweet! It could feature a food item
or just a sweet image...it's up to you!

I think this fits both criteria. Strawberries are delicious and this little girl
certainly is sweet! She's one of Mo's series of  "Fruit Girls"....each one as cute as the next!

Images: "Strawberry Girl" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital strawberry sentiment

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug with Daisy dies, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, Mounting tape, Sewing machine

Papers: SU! Blush Blossom, Garden Green, Neenah white, Digital DP

Embellishments: Corduroy brads, Grosgrain ribbon

Mo's Challenge #203

Boys, Boys, Boys!

Anja is our hostess for Mo's Challenge this week. She's asked that we make cards and projects using Mo's cute images of boys!

I've used one of her newer images, " Victory!" to make a birthday card for one of our sons. The football and field were free downloads I found on Google Images.

(Sorry the photo isn't too clear. I didn't realize it was a fuzzy until after it was on its way to the birthday boy!)

Inside: "Ready to tackle another year? Happy Birthday!"

Images: "Victory!" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Real Red and Garden Green, Neenah white

Flowers

Flowers Everywhere!

I have two cards today. One is for a wedding and the second is another sympathy card.

This is a wedding card for an older couple, so the usual bride and groom didn't seem right.
I made all the flowers and leaves using a combination of punches and dies from Martha Stewart, Marianne, Cheery Lynn, and Nellie Snellen. The oval dies and Anna Griffen embossing folder are from Spellbinders. The stamped sentiment is from SU! The colored card stock is SU!, and the white is PTI, and Neenah.
It's been embellished with tiny pearls, brads, and satin ribbon.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%

This is the last sympathy card I'll be making for awhile....at least I hope so!
I have no idea where the poppy came from, but the embossing folder is Anna Griffen from Spellbinders. The oval die is also from Spellbinders. The corner dies are Cheery Lynn. It's been embellished with satin ribbon, a pearl bead and flower charm.

Have a great day!

Roses!

Just Peachy!

I love coloring flowers! This card was made for the wedding of an older couple.

I have no idea from whom I bought this image...nothing in the file name gives me any clue! I love it, though! It's actually a merge of two identical images. The rose leaf die and pretty frame die is from Spellbinders.  . The Anna Griffen embossing folder is theirs, also.
The card stock is SU! Guava, Pirouette Pink, and Garden Green, and the white is from PTI.
I've embellished it with satin ribbon, a bead, and an engraved heart charm.

I've entered this in the color challenge on The Ribbon Girl blog. We are to use peach or orange. The card did not photograph true to color. It is actually between peach and orange.

Thanks for looking!

Sympathy Cards

A Season for Everything

I don't enjoy making sympathy cards, but death is, unfortunately, as much a part of life as birth. I've had  to make a couple for our personal use for friends and distant relatives recently, and the florist who sells my cards has asked for some.

********************
This card uses a vintage image from Two for Tuesday and a digital sentiment. The embossing was done with an Anna Griffen embossing folder, and the leaves were made with
Nellie Snellens' Embossing Leaf punch set.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This second card uses a digital image from a shop that is no longer in business and another digital sentiment.
I do love coloring flowers!

*************************

This image of violets on this card is from the same shop. The sentiment is from a SU! stamp set.
The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart. The embossing folder and dies are from Spellbinders

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

This card uses a digital image of a gladiola stalk, one of my favorite flowers. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I bought this one! I wish artists or shops would include their name in the file names of the images. I often don't remember to do that when I purchase a digi.
The embossing folder is an Anna Griffen, the die is from Marianne (I cut two and used all of one and part of the second to frame the image.), and the beautiful lace is available from WOC.

I think this is my favorite!

That's it for now. I have a few more images colored for sympathy cards, but I need to take a break!

Mo's Challenge #195

So Krafty!

Kim is our hostess for this week, and she wants us to us to use Kraft card stock in our creations! I've colored on Kraft with Prismacolor pencils before, and I love the look,  but I much prefer the speed of my Copics for coloring. I decided to use the Kraft for my card body instead of coloring an image on Kraft. I used it to make the daisies, too. I used regular brads for the centers and dotted them using a Spica pen and Multiliner.

I made this card to welcome a new couple to our rural neighborhood.

Images: "Tall Houses" (a set of three) from Mo's Digital Pencil, SU! stamped sentiment (I used the 'omitting' technique, as the stamp said "Welcome Baby")

Tools: Copics, Spica and Multiliner pens, Prismacolor pencil, MS Fence, Leaf, and Daisy punches, Nellie Snellen leaf embosser, Black marker

Papers: SU! Reds, Gable Green, and Kraft CS, Neenah white

Turquoise!

Tine is our hostess for Mo's Challenge this week, and she wants us to use turquoise on our cards and
projects. That was easy for me as I love to use turquoise. I think it goes well with so many other colors!

I love this image! I don't know what it is about her that appeals so much to me, but I always love working with her, and I always seem to make her a red-head!

Inside: "Sending you a bucketful of sunshine!"

Images: "Maggie" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Stamped sentiment from PrintWorks

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Prismacolor pencil, Cuttlebug with die, Oval punches.

Papers: SU! Turquoise and Apricot, Recollections gingham DP, Digital star DP, Neenah white

Embellishments: Brads

This card uses another of my favorite images! I just love the look on this baby's face! This card doesn't have any turquoise on it, but aqua is a close cousin!

Mo's Challenge #193

Celebrating Love!

Oops! Time got away from me, and I'm very late in posting my card for this week's Challenge!
My younger sister is visiting from Dallas, so there have been a lot of family activities to occupy my thoughts and time.

Anja is our hostess for this week, and she has chosen the theme of  "Love" for Mo's Challenge.

This card is one of three that I made for our daughter-in-law to choose from for a wedding she and our son were  attending.  Mo has images of three wedding couples, so I used a different one on each card.

Mo's Challenge #192

'F' is For.......
Mo's Challenge this week is to make a card or project using at least one of Mo's great images with a theme or element that begins with an 'F'.

My 'F' is for formal, but it could also be for frame,  flourish, or flowers!
Our daughter-in-law needed a card for a wedding she and our son were attending. I made three different cards using Mo's three wedding couple images so that she could choose the one she liked.
The one above is the one she chose!

Tools: Copics, Gold Metallic pen, Spica pens, Cuttlebug with Embossing folder and Marianne swirl die, Glue dots

Papers: Neenah white, PTI white, Gold metallic CS

Embellishments: Flowers from WOC, Tiny pearl cabochons.

########################

Here's another, and I'll show you the the third one next week!

I used Core'dination paper and my new Anna Griffin embossing folder for the background. It was lightly sanded to reveal the under-lying color. I'd never used this paper before, and I really like the effect.

Inside: "May your hearts still be dancing long after the music has stopped."

Image: "Bride and Groom (Dancing)" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug with Anna Griffin embossing folder, Nestibilities ovals, and Cheery Lynn flourish corner dies, Nellie Snellen Rose Leaf embossing punch set, Sanding block

Papers: SU! Rose Romance and Garden Green, Neenah white, Core'dinations CS

Embellishments: Flowers from WOC

Mo's challenge #191

Fun in the Sun! (NOT!)

I know this doesn't seem to fit the theme for Mo's Challenge this week, but hear me out. I work with 12 and 13 year old kids, and towards the end of school I asked them what they would be doing during their summer vacation. Almost all the boys said they would be playing video games during their time off!
No "Fun in the Sun" for them, I guess!
I love the 'glazed over' look on his face! If you have gamers in your family, you know that look well!
I colored the image first, then found this perfect masculine plaid DP in my stash. I couldn't believe how well it picked up all the colors I had used!

Inside: "Now that I have your attention,  Happy Birthday!"

Image: "Game On" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Silver metallic pen, Prismacolor pencil, Square punch,  Mounting tape, Tacky tape

Papers: SU! Gable Green, Only Orange, Blue (?), Neenah white, MME DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Natural twine, Buttons

Please join us in Mo's Challenge this week for a chance to win a $5.00 gift certificate to Mo's Digital Pencil. Remember to check out all the Teams' blogs for details on their wonderful creations!

Mo's Challenge #189

School's Out!

At least it will be for me next Wednesday! I love my job, but I love summer vacation, too!
"School's Out" is  Mo's Challenge theme for this week.

I made this card for our daughter's birthday. She's addicted to facebook!
This is pretty much what I'll be doing, though, once school is out for the summer....on the computer and not getting dressed until noon! LOL!

Inside: "Happy Birthday from two people who 'Like' you very much!"

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Turquoise and Green Galore (I'm really bummed that they discontinued that color!), Neenah white, Unknown DPs

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Prima flowers, Flower brads
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I've used "Georgie Cartwheel" on this card. He's as excited as I am about getting out of school!  He has not been put in the new store yet. If you want him, just ask Mo and she'll make him available for you.

I've made a spinner card with him. You can find the instructions for these cards on Splitcoast Stampers. They are fairly easy to make and kids love them! Below are more views of the way he spins across the card.

Images: "Georgie Cartwheel" From Mo's Digital Pencil, Stamped sentiment

Tools: Copic Markers, Oval punches, Slot Punch, Dimensional dots, Pennies Glue Dots

Mo's Challenge #188

The Children's Challenge!

Mo's Challenge this week is to use at least one image of a child from Mo's collection on a card or project.

I used "Howdy" on this card. She's absolutely a joy to color and comes with two sentiments, neither of which is on this card! I used a white gel pen and fine black marker to simulate a bandana print on her neck scarf, and a white gel pen for the polka dots on her skirt.
This is a retirement card for one of the many people who are leaving our school this year. I'd better get busy! I have several more to make!

Images: "Howdy" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment (Lariat font)

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Thin blue marker, Mounting tape, Circle punches

Papers: SU! Real Red, Kraft, Neenah white, Corrugated cardboard, Assorted DP

Embellishments: Natural twine, Chipboard stars

This is also the week for children to enter their cards and projects using one of Mo's cute images.
Read all about it on Mo's Challenge Blog!

Looking forward to seeing what you and the kids will do for a chance to win!

Mo's Challeng #187

Summer's Coming!

That's the theme for Mo's Challenge this week!
For our family, summer means that the horse show season is in full swing, with shows almost every weekend.
Our granddaughter just turned 10 years old, and she's been riding since she was three!
I made this card for her birthday.

She owns a 6 year old Morgan named Whiteout who's 16 hands and a beautiful animal! The two just love each other, and this image so reminds me of them.
